Today is May the 4th, or better known as “Star Wars Day” for us Star Wars fans (“May the Fourth be with you … get it?)

Star Wars is loved by millions of fans around the world not because of the CGI, cool weapons, or the whole Jedi mythology – although those things help.

It’s not about the space battles either (plenty of movies with those types of scenes have flopped.)

It’s such a beloved franchise because of the way it makes people feel.

Fans remember the first time they saw that famous opening crawl: “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away …” and heard John Williams’ well-known theme music blasting out …

They still get goosebumps when they see and hear it.

We grew up riding our bikes pretending that we were Luke Skywalker blowing up the Death Star.

We played lightsaber battles against our friends with sticks collected in the woods.

We mimicked Darth Vader’s voice by speaking into a fan.

And now we get to watch our kids do the same …

Is it logical to be so obsessed with movies that have a furry creature that resembles Bigfoot, unrealistic laser-swords, and a little green creature that lives in a swamp and spouts out wisdom in a backwards language?

Probably not.

But people don’t buy based on logic, they buy on emotion.

Star Wars stirs up emotions, and if you can do the same with your marketplace then your business will prosper as well.
